John Trudell (February 15, 1946 – December 8, 2015) was a Native American author, poet, actor, musician, and political activist. He was the spokesperson for the United Indians of All Tribes' takeover of Alcatraz beginning in 1969, broadcasting as Radio Free Alcatraz. During most of the 1970s, he served as the chairman of the American Indian Movement, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After his pregnant wife, three children and mother-in-law were killed in 1979 in a suspicious fire at the home of his parents-in-law on the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes Duck Valley Indian Reservation in Nevada, Trudell turned to writing, music and film as a second career. He acted in three films in the 1990s. The documentary Trudell (2005) was made about him and his life as an activist and artist.

I know Europeans think with different brain synapse that don't quite connect, but if you can. Imagine 1000's of Indian children being forcibly removed from their homes and taken to a distant school whose goal is to turn the Red man into a White man. The children were punished for using their native language and forced to learn Christianity in the face of the freedom of their Tribal Spirituality. Idiots assume these children were less than human and treated them as such. T hese memories do not go away and serve to separate and beget animosity even today! Little Running Deer writes The Ojibwa Indian “midewiwan” befriended an English couple who settled in Northern Ontario, Canada, at the turn of the century. The couple and other prospectors had come to the region hoping to get rich in the forested wilderness where the Ojibwa still lived according to traditional Native American ways. As if this is the first he has heard of this way of relating to Mother Earth. It is no wonder that most of the world's human population are running around with a "Sky is Falling" fear every day! The reporters are so important in forming the civil views of society and if they are getting it wrong (which they certainly are) then we all are getting it wrong, unless we teach ourselves a higher WAY! Onondaga Nation Clan Mother Audrey Shenandoah, who passed away two years ago, spoke with Bill in 1991 about her personal kinship with nature and the Onondaga Nation's concerns for our Earth in a society that "feels dominant over the elements of the creation."

My anger is a healthy anger because I believe it speaks for those who do not have the courage to evolve out of the mass ignorance that has overrun this country since the white/black man came here.
